I have heard that my botanical paintings seem to pop off the canvas, and I took that literally for this impasto painting. Finding the delicate balance between just right and heavy-handed was challenging for this work, but I believe I found the right combination. The paint for the petals was applied and left untouched for the remainder of my painting process.
