Growing up a military child meant that we moved every two to three years, but it also meant we had many opportunities to explore our new homes. Turtle Tree was inspired by the Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, South Carolina. Most of the gardens were swampish wetlands and you could see the animals in their natural habitat. These turtles seemed to have found the perfect spot basking in the sun along the edges of the submerged tree trunks and roots.
