This was the first avian I ever painted with a palette knife and the first one I had created since high school. This painting made me fall back in love with painting birds and other winged friends. The reference photo I took while learning to pull focus on my father's 35mm camera at the Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, South Carolina. This is also the first painting where I played with leftover paint as an abstract background.
