My husband's family has been spending their 4th of July in Brewster, Cape Cod, for as long as he can remember. Originally just a weekend family trip three hours away, it has now morphed into a week-long annual trip where multiple families congregate and travel from across the United States, not only with their adult children but now their grandchildren, to reminiscence and celebrate the birth of the United States. This scene was inspired by a photograph I took in 2021, the day after the 4th of July, when we were all spending time on "The Flats," or low tide in Cape Cod Bay. During low tide, the bay recedes almost 2 miles, creating a massive beach for all those present.
